Dr. L. Wayne Plumly, Jr. has an undergraduate degree in economics from the College of William & Mary and Masters and Ph.D. in economics from Georgia State University. He has been teaching at Valdosta State University for the past 31 years. In 2007, he was inducted into the SIFE Hall of Fame. Plumly has received 10 teaching awards including the University System of Georgia Board of Regents' 1998 Regents Teaching Excellence Award, 2003 Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education, the 2004 Kenneth G. Elzinga Distinguished Teacher Award presented by the Southern Economic Association, and the first ever 2004 VSU Excellence in Teaching Award. His research and teaching interests are labor economics, public finance, economics education, and the economics of education. Plumly has published 14 refereed articles and numerous other publications. He is a faculty advisor for the VSU Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) for the past 17 years. VSU SIFE has won 16 consecutive regional championships and finished in the top 4 in 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2010 out of over 600 national teams. Dr. Plumly is married to Cindy Kay and has three children.

Dr. Fredenberger is a Professor of Management Information Systems. Dr. Fredenberger has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from The Citadel, an MBA from Valdosta State University, and a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems the University of Georgia. He has been teaching at Valdosta State University for the past 27 years. His research interests are in the information requirements of turnaround managers in failing businesses. Dr. Fredenberger has published 19 refereed articles, 20 refereed proceedings, 3 books, and 4 chapters in separate books. Dr. Fredenberger is a faculty advisor for the VSU Students in Free Enterprise. In this capacity, Dr. Fredenberger does the filming for the presentation, prepares the video for the presentation, maintains the database for the project hours, maintains the website, and maintains the three email list serves.

Mrs. Gibbs is the director of development for the Langdale College of business. Mrs. Gibbs earned her bachelor’s in business administration with a degree in marketing from VSU in 2001. Mrs. Gibbs graduated with her masters in Educational Leadership in Higher Education from VSU in 2006. As a former SIFE student and member of the 2001 VSU SIFE presenting team, Mrs. Gibbs is thrilled to have become a Sam Walton Fellow in 2008. She looks forward to working with the VSU SIFE team this year. Mrs. Gibbs is married to a Langdale College alumni and has two beautiful daughters.

Ms. Guess is an advisor for freshmen and sophomore business administration majors for The Langdale College.  Ms. Guess has an undergraduate degree in Management and an MPA degree, both received from Valdosta State University.  She has been employed with Valdosta State University for twenty years.  Ms. Guess has been an advisor for SIFE for the past six years.  She is the advisor for SIFE’s “I Choose” program.
