Welcome to the Valdosta State University Model United Nations website. The purpose of the Model United Nations Program at Valdosta State University is to introduce students to the activities of the United Nations in the world today, and to give students the opportunity to become diplomats in a mock setting. Student "delegates" research a particular country in order to accurately represent that country in competition. This involves learning about the culture, politics, and society of the country, as well as its foreign policies. The ultimate goal of the Model United Nations Conference is for student "delegates" to negotiate with each other in order to write resolutions that propose solutions to the world's problems. Students may therefore negotiate a broad range of issues such as human rights, global warming, terrorism, or world trade.

The delegation has won many awards, including the most recent Distinguished Delegation award at the National Model United nations conference in New York where the delegation represented Cuba and the delegates were privileged to meet the head of the Cuban Mission to the UN.
The VSU Model UN Team will attend the Florida Conference in the October and have also been invited to attend the a conference in Xi'an, China in the latter part of November.
