Welcome to the Valdosta State University Model United Nations website. The purpose of the Model United Nations Program at Valdosta State University is to introduce students to the activities of the United Nations in the world today, and to give students the opportunity to "act like a diplomat" in a mock setting. Student "delegates" research a particular country in order to accurately represent that country in competition. This involves learning about the culture, politics, and society of the country, as well as its foreign policies. The ultimate goal of the Model United Nations Conference is for student "delegates" to negotiate with each other in order to write resolutions that propose solutions to the world's problems. Students may therefore negotiate a broad range of issues such as human rights, global warming, terrorism, or world trade.
